Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance Offers Grants to Promote Horse Racing Through Community Open Houses

The Indiana Thoroughbred Alliance (ITA) is offering the “Indiana Equine Connection Grant,” providing $1,000 to Indiana Thoroughbred horse racing farms to host community open houses in 2025. These events aim to educate families, business owners, and community leaders about the farm’s operations and the significant economic impact of the $2 billion horse racing industry in Indiana. Farms must include an educational component, promote the event with ITA support, and can use the grant for entertainment, marketing, or presenter costs.

The initiative seeks to foster grassroots marketing by connecting local communities and lawmakers with the horse racing industry, highlighting its importance beyond just the physical facilities. Inspired by the success of similar outreach by the Indiana Standardbred Association, the ITA hopes these open houses will increase awareness and appreciation of horse racing’s role in Indiana’s economy. Interested farms can apply by contacting ITA Outreach Committee member Christine Cagle.
