Indiana Derby Day Promises Premier Racing and Festivities at Horseshoe Indianapolis

This Saturday, Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville, Indiana, will host an exciting day of horse racing highlighted by the 31st running of the $300,000 Indiana Derby for 3-year-old Thoroughbreds. The event features 13 races starting at noon ET, including the Indiana Derby at 6:33 p.m., with notable horses like Chunk of Gold, Coal Battle, and Publisher, all Kentucky Derby contenders. Other major races include the $200,000 Daily Racing Form Indiana Oaks for fillies and the $100,000 Michael G. Schaefer Memorial. Hall of Fame jockeys Mike Smith and John Velazquez will also be competing, adding to the event’s prestige.

Beyond the races, attendees can enjoy a full day of activities such as giveaways, a Magic Mirror selfie station, a $1,000 hat contest, and a cigar rolling station. Food trucks and casino dining options will be available, with reserved clubhouse tickets including meals. Betting contests with significant prize money and a qualifier for the 2026 National Horseplayers Championship will engage horseplayers. For those unable to attend, all races will be broadcast on FanDuel TV, and America’s Best Racing will offer livestream previews and live race coverage with expert betting tips on their social media and YouTube channels.
