Idaho Company Recalls Nearly 3,000 Pounds of Ground Beef Due to Possible E. coli Contamination

During the week between Christmas and New Year’s, many find themselves tired of holiday leftovers and craving something different, like tacos made with ground beef. However, a recent recall from Mountain West Food Group LLC warns consumers to check their ground beef packaging carefully. Nearly 3,000 pounds of “Forward Farms” grass-fed ground beef have been recalled due to potential contamination with E. coli O26, discovered during routine USDA testing. While no illnesses have been reported yet, symptoms of E. coli infection can appear within two to eight days and include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled beef, with a use or freeze-by date of January 13, 2026, are advised to discard it or return it to the place of purchase. The recall is particularly important for vulnerable groups such as young children and older adults, who are at higher risk of severe complications. Anyone experiencing prolonged symptoms or signs of serious illness should seek medical attention promptly. For questions, customers can contact Mountain West Food Group directly.
