Paul shares that his daughter Amelie’s involvement in HorseWorld’s Discovery Programme has been transformative, helping her regain enthusiasm for life after years of instability and mental health challenges. Amelie, who has been part of the programme since age 14, is now engaged in college and feels reconnected with life, largely due to the leadership skills and confidence she developed through working with rescued horses.
HorseWorld facilitator Sharon Howell explains that the programme focuses on building leadership by encouraging young people to guide the rescued horses, which positively shifts their self-perception and abilities. Paul believes Amelie’s bond with the horses is strengthened by their shared experiences of hardship. To expand this impact, HorseWorld is fundraising to provide 100 bursaries, each covering a six-week placement for vulnerable children on the education programme.
