HorseWorld, a horse rescue centre near Bristol, offers an alternative education programme that pairs vulnerable children with rescue horses, helping them build confidence and leadership skills. Parents report transformative impacts on their children, who often struggle with disrupted mainstream education or mental health challenges. For example, Rachel’s son Charlie found purpose and confidence through caring for the animals, while Paul’s daughter Amelie re-engaged with life and education after years of instability.
The centre cares for 100 animals on-site and supports 200 rehomed horses across the region. It is currently fundraising to provide 100 bursaries, each funding a six-week placement on the Discovery Programme, aiming to extend this life-changing opportunity to more vulnerable children. The connection with rescue horses, many of whom have also faced hardship, resonates deeply with participants, fostering personal growth and renewed hope.
