Hello World Aims for Historic Third Consecutive Gold Cup Victory at Santa Rosa Park

HELLO WORLD is poised to make history at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, by attempting to become the first horse in nearly 70 years to win the premier staying event, the Gold Cup, three times consecutively. The five-year-old has an impressive unbeaten streak of 12 wins, including the last two Gold Cups and a recent victory in the Stewards Cup over 1,200 metres. The last horse to achieve a hat-trick in this Grade One race was Airofaith in 1958, and despite other notable contenders like Sian’s Gold and Sugar Mike attempting the feat, none have succeeded since the sport centralized in Arima in 1994.

The $110,000 Gold Cup features seven runners over 2,000 metres, with HELLO WORLD carrying the top weight of 57 kilos and ridden by Dillon Khelawan. Key challengers include HEADLINER, who impressed with a second-place finish in the Stewards Cup and carries a five-kilo weight advantage, and THE GODDESS NIKE, last year’s runner-up. Other entrants like EL CHICO MALO, VALIANTE, SNEAKY CHEEKY, and STRIKING CHROME round out the field, but none have matched HELLO WORLD’s current form and dominance.
