Happy Cat Cafe in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has reached a significant milestone by adopting out its 1,000th cat since opening in 2017. Partnering with Fig and Friends Pet Rescue, the cafe provides a unique environment where guests can interact with adoptable cats in a relaxed setting, helping the cats become more sociable and allowing potential adopters to find the right match. The milestone adoption was marked by the Parisian family adopting Mountain, a black kitten, and receiving a commemorative plaque and perks from the cafe.
Owner Katie Quarto expressed excitement about surpassing this goal and aims to continue increasing adoptions. She emphasized the cafe’s role in supporting overwhelmed cat rescues by freeing up space and resources through adoptions. Quarto encouraged community support through cafe visits, events, donations, and volunteering, while stressing the importance of spaying and neutering pets to reduce the number of cats needing rescue. The cafe offers a win-win solution for both cats and people, especially those unable to have pets at home.
