Greenacres Rescue Pauses Animal Adoptions Over Festive Period Until January 2026

Greenacres Rescue, the county’s main shelter for cats, dogs, and other animals like horses and reptiles, has announced a temporary pause on rehoming pets from December 15, 2025, until January 3, 2026. This decision is based on the shelter’s commitment to animal welfare, recognizing that the busy and unpredictable nature of the Christmas period is not ideal for introducing new pets into homes. While adoption appointments are on hold during this time, applications will still be accepted and processed, with appointments scheduled to begin in January.

Despite the adoption pause, Greenacres Rescue continues to seek support through fundraising efforts over the festive season. Supporters can contribute via monthly donations, bank transfers, PayPal, or by purchasing items from the charity’s Amazon wishlist to help provide care and equipment for the animals. The shelter thanks the community for their understanding and ongoing support in ensuring the best outcomes for rescued animals.
