Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary Owner Rebuilds After Traffic Stop Lawsuit and Negative Press

Lana Hubler, owner of the Forgotten Hearts Horse Sanctuary in Morrisdale, has dedicated over 30 years to rescuing neglected animals, including horses, dogs, cats, and rabbits. Despite her longstanding commitment and success in running the nonprofit sanctuary, her work was severely impacted after a mistaken traffic stop by state trooper Austin Woolcock in June 2023 led to negative media coverage and a lawsuit. Although Hubler was never charged, the incident caused distress, damaged her reputation, and hurt her business, forcing her to fight to clear her name and rebuild community trust.

After a two-year legal battle settled out of court in 2024, Hubler is focused on moving forward and expanding her sanctuary’s mission. She plans to host events, riding lessons, and music performances to engage the community and raise funds, hoping to improve facilities and continue educating people about animal cruelty and compassion. Supported by friends and legal advocates, Hubler remains dedicated to her animals and optimistic about the sanctuary’s future growth despite the challenges she has faced.
