Firefighters from the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) responded to an incident where a showjumping horse’s leg became trapped inside a horsebox while being transported from the Netherlands to Berkshire. Working alongside the vehicle’s driver and an equine vet, the team successfully freed the male horse on 19 December.
RBFRS’s specialized Animal Rescue Unit, established in 2010 and based at Caversham Road Fire Station in Reading, utilized their expertise in rescue techniques to ensure the safe release of the trapped horse.
