FanDuel TV to End Horse Racing Broadcasts by 2027, Cutting 60% of Workforce

FanDuel TV, a major broadcaster of North American horse racing formerly known as TVG, is significantly scaling back its television coverage this year and plans to cease all TV broadcasts by 2027. This decision, driven by a strategic review deeming the investments in a linear network unsustainable, will result in a 60% workforce reduction by June and the end of in-studio productions by December. While FanDuel TV will maintain race broadcasts via partner feeds and continue its wagering platforms, the move marks a substantial contraction in horse racing’s daily media presence, potentially impacting the sport’s visibility and betting handle.

The network, which has been a central hub for live racing coverage and wagering insights for over two decades, shocked employees with the announcement and leaves a significant gap in horse racing media. Industry voices lament the loss of a dedicated racing channel that helped grow the sport’s audience and engagement. With FanDuel TV’s exit, questions arise about who will fill the void in comprehensive horse racing television coverage, as existing outlets like FOX Sports provide only partial coverage of the sport.
