Dixie Law Rallies to Win $250,000 Cup & Saucer Stakes at Woodbine

Dixie Law, ridden by Rafael Hernandez, delivered a strong late rally to win the $250,000 Cup & Saucer Stakes for 2-year-olds foaled in Canada at Woodbine on October 5, 2025. After settling in sixth early, Dixie Law surged down the stretch to finish 2 ¼ lengths ahead of Princecrest, with Buium close behind in third. The race was contested over 1 1/16 miles on firm inner turf, with a final time of 1:44.60. A claim of foul for interference against Dixie Law was disallowed.

Bred and owned by Garland Williamson’s Hillsbrook Farms and trained by Dale Desruisseaux, Dixie Law had previously won her debut race in July and finished a respectable sixth in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes despite health setbacks earlier in the season. Desruisseaux noted the filly’s poor start in the Cup & Saucer but praised her ability to settle and find a strong rhythm as the race unfolded. Dixie Law paid $10.70 to win, with groom Kyle MacDonald credited for her care.
