The family of a teenager who was trampled by a Dallas police horse during the 2024 State Fair of Texas has reached a confidential settlement after suing the city of Dallas, the State Fair of Texas, Fair Park First, and Oak View Group. The lawsuit, filed by the teen’s mother Esther Macharia, sought over $1 million in damages, alleging negligence when a mounted officer lost control of his horse while holding a beverage, resulting in severe injuries, seizures, and emotional trauma.
The law firm representing the family, Shamieah Law, stated that while the settlement terms remain confidential, the family is relieved that the matter is resolved. Attorney Ramez Shamieh expressed hope that the settlement would provide closure and support the family as the child faces a challenging recovery ahead.
