CTHS Alberta Launches 2025 Two-Year-Old Incentive Program for Alberta-Bred Horses

The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Alberta Division) has launched the 2025 Two-Year-Old Incentive Program to reward early racing success of Alberta-bred horses sold at the 2024 CTHS Alberta Yearling Sale. Starting with the first two-year-old race of the 2025 season, owners of qualified horses making their first official start in Alberta will receive a $1,500 payout. The program is limited to the first 40 starters, with payouts issued monthly to the owner of record at the time of the horse’s first start.

To be eligible, horses must be Alberta-bred, offered at the 2024 CTHS Alberta Yearling Sale, and make at least one official start as a two-year-old in Alberta during the 2025 season. Dave Lovile, Breed Improvement Chair of CTHS Alberta, emphasized that the program aims to incentivize owners to invest in Alberta-breds and promote early racing, thereby supporting the local industry’s growth.
