Cow Rescued from I-79 Median Near Cranberry Township After Causing Traffic Backup

A cow was found stranded in the median of Interstate 79 near Cranberry Township, Butler County, causing a two-mile traffic backup Wednesday morning. Several motorists reported the cow around 7 a.m., prompting police to stop traffic and manage the situation. Local farrier Kyle Carson responded to the news alert, arriving on horseback to rope and safely load the cow onto a trailer by 10 a.m. Carson emphasized the importance of rescuing the animal, noting the danger it posed both to itself and to drivers.

State Police confirmed that the cow did not belong to any local farmers and is now receiving veterinary care at a nearby farm. The origin of the cow and how it ended up on the highway remain unknown. Despite the unusual rescue setting, Carson found some humor in the situation, mentioning that his horse’s name is Highway. Authorities continue to investigate the incident while urging the public to stay informed through local news channels.
