The Coulee Region Humane Society in Onalaska, Wisconsin, is reducing adoption fees for cats due to an influx of surrendered and stray felines causing overcrowding at the shelter. Adoption fees for cats over six months old are now $5, with the first 70 adoptions free thanks to a donation. This special rate is available until November 11 and may be extended if needed. The shelter is also urgently seeking adopters, fosters, and cat-related donations such as food and toys.
Adoption applications can be submitted in person during weekday and weekend hours or online via the shelter’s website. The humane society emphasizes the need for community support to manage the unprecedented number of cats currently in their care.
