Community Fights to Keep Rescued Horses from Returning to Muddy Water Ranch Owner

Eighteen horses were recently removed from Muddy Water Ranch in Cincinnati due to reports of starvation, health issues, and poor living conditions, including being kept in metal tractor trailers. Despite longstanding complaints dating back to 2016 and previous rescue efforts by advocates like Teresa Russo, the ranch remained operational until this seizure by Cincinnati Animal CARE. The owner has since filed a motion to have the horses returned, though no formal charges have been found against him.

Animal welfare supporters, led by Russo, are actively opposing the return of the horses to the ranch, emphasizing the animals’ lack of control over their care and the need for a safer environment. A peaceful protest is planned outside the Hamilton County Courthouse ahead of the judge’s decision, and an online petition is circulating to prevent the horses from being sent back to the facility.
