China and Hong Kong are enhancing their racing tourism collaboration through a new cross-border initiative linking Hong Kong’s major racecourses with Guangzhou’s Conghua facility. This partnership aims to create a unified travel and sports experience across the Greater Bay Area by integrating horse racing with tourism, culture, and large-scale events. By positioning Conghua as a central hub alongside Hong Kong’s established racing reputation, the initiative seeks to boost multi-destination travel, increase high-value tourism spending, and elevate the region’s status as a premier global tourism and events destination.
The collaboration focuses on expanding horse racing beyond traditional sports by incorporating cultural and leisure elements such as equestrian heritage, training activities, exhibitions, and festivals. Joint marketing campaigns and integrated travel itineraries will promote the region to domestic and international audiences, while industry development programs will enhance talent training and knowledge exchange. Supported by regional authorities, the Conghua racecourse is set to become a strategic center for equestrian innovation, cultural exchange, and tourism growth, driving deeper regional integration and strengthening the Greater Bay Area’s global appeal.
