Canada’s top animal stories included rewilded orphaned grizzly cubs thriving near Bella Coola, a stolen Yukon dog reunited with its family after being found in the U.S., and Emerson the elephant seal thwarting relocation efforts in Greater Victoria. Other stories included a stabilized painted turtle released in Williams Lake, a Sooke wildlife photographer capturing a rare moment between an owl and a crayfish, and alpacas receiving haircuts at an Aldergrove farm.

Additionally, a support dog named Odie helped families through grief at a Vernon funeral home, former research beagles played in Kelowna after being rescued, and wandering horses were spotted in South Surrey after escaping from a field. A Chilliwack woman witnessed a bobcat being attacked by a cougar in a tree, while a memorial Dogs of White Rock calendar honoring a senior who loved dogs was released.
