The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) Enniskillen Campus recently hosted a well-attended Equine Open Day, providing prospective students and families with an in-depth look at its equine courses, facilities, and career opportunities. Visitors were greeted by staff and student ambassadors and participated in introductory sessions covering course details and entry requirements. A guided tour showcased the campus’s practical learning approach, including accommodations, teaching spaces, laboratories, the rider performance hub, and live demonstrations such as flatwork lessons, racehorse training, and farriery, culminating in a visit to the Breeding Unit that emphasized the integration of science, technology, and business in equine education.
Jane Elliott, Head of Equine, highlighted the college’s commitment to equipping students with qualifications, experience, and confidence to succeed in various equine industry roles. The event also offered attendees the chance to discuss student support services, including residential, financial, and academic assistance. Programme Manager Shelley Stuart and student ambassador Erin Reid praised the campus’s specialist facilities and supportive environment, expressing hope that visitors left well-informed and inspired to apply.
