Animal Charity Launches ‘Donate a Dinner’ Campaign to Support Struggling Rescue Centres on World Animal Day Centennial

The Naturewatch Foundation (NF), an animal welfare charity based in Cheltenham, has launched a “donate a dinner” campaign to mark the 100th anniversary of World Animal Day. The initiative encourages people to provide meals to local rescue centres struggling with rising costs and an increasing number of abandoned animals. NF’s chief executive, Sarah Carr, emphasized that even small contributions, like a tin of dog food, can significantly support shelters across the UK, which are facing challenges due to higher food and fuel prices.

To kickstart the campaign, NF donated 100 dinners to Vale Wildlife Hospital in Tewkesbury, which treats over 8,000 British wildlife casualties annually. Natalie Gould from the hospital expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the campaign helps them feed more sick, injured, and orphaned animals. The charity hopes the campaign will inspire individuals and community groups to contribute and aid the many shelters in need during this difficult time.
