Alne Park Stud, operated by trainer Dan Skelton and his wife Grace, has decided to cease standing jumps stallions due to operational needs, including reclaiming stables for their racehorses after giving up a leased yard. The stud previously stood four sires—Dink, Midnights Legacy, Ocovango, and Subjectivist—but will now focus on supporting British National Hunt breeding in other ways. Skelton emphasized the difficulty of the decision but reaffirmed their commitment to the industry despite cutting back on stallions and mares.
As part of this transition, Subjectivist, a dual Group 1 winner, has moved to Chapel Stud in Worcestershire, where he joins other notable stallions. Roisin Close of Chapel Stud highlighted the challenges facing British breeders, such as rising costs and shrinking markets, stressing the importance of supporting local stallions to maintain industry diversity and sustainability. Meanwhile, Dink remains at Alne Park, Midnights Legacy has relocated to Batsford Stud, and plans for Ocovango are still being finalized.
