Ales for Tails, Durban’s popular animal charity festival, returns on August 2 at the Shongweni Club grounds, offering a full day of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and craft beverages. The event supports numerous local animal welfare groups, including shelters, sterilisation programs, and wildlife rehabilitation organizations. With community backing and sponsors like Ideal Pet Food, the festival aims to surpass last year’s fundraising of nearly R200,000. Attendees can enjoy diverse attractions such as mechanical bull rides, pampering stations, interactive games, and a Kids Zone, alongside a wide selection of craft beers, gins, and wines.

The festival also features a special Home Brew competition with 92 unique brews available exclusively to VIP ticket holders, who can vote for their favorites. Dogs are welcome, emphasizing the event’s inclusive, pet-friendly atmosphere. Proceeds from ticket sales and on-site purchases directly benefit a dozen local animal charities, including Coastal Horse Care, CROW, Project Rhino, and The Feline Connection. Tickets are available online, with limited sales at the gate, making Ales for Tails a vibrant celebration of community, craft drinks, and animal welfare.
