Abandoned Newborn Puppies Rescued and Cared for by Harford County Humane Society

A box of newborn puppies, only a day or two old and unable to open their eyes, was found abandoned along a walking trail in Harford County, Maryland. A good Samaritan brought them to the Harford County Humane Society, where staff immediately placed them in incubators and began bottle feeding to keep them warm and alive in the cold weather. Although the runt did not survive, three puppies are now thriving thanks to the around-the-clock care from the humane society and foster volunteers like Sarah Elliott.

The Humane Society has seen a recent rise in animal abandonment and is currently at capacity, emphasizing the urgent need for more foster caregivers to help save animals. They also encourage pet owners struggling to reach out for assistance rather than abandoning their pets, offering resources such as food, beds, and surrender options without judgment. The rescued puppies are expected to be available for adoption by mid-December, and more information on fostering or donating can be found on the Harford County Humane Society’s website.
