The 2025 Victorian Breeding Awards celebrated excellence in Victoria’s thoroughbred breeding and racing industry, with standout honors going to the stallion Toronado, who secured both the IRT Champion Victorian Sire and Racing Victoria VOBIS Sire of the Year titles. Treasurethe Moment, a three-time Group 1 winner bred by Yulong Stud, was recognized as the Magic Millions Champion Victorian Bred 3YO and Breednet Champion Victorian Bred Racehorse, highlighting her exceptional performances including victories in the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Australian Oaks. Yulong Stud also earned accolades as Racing Victoria VOBIS Nominator of the Year and Donovan & Co Champion Victorian Breeder, underscoring their strong presence in the industry.
Other notable winners included Within the Law, named Inglis Champion Victorian Bred 2YO for her impressive juvenile season, and Blackberry Bomb, awarded Racing Victoria VOBIS Horse of the Year for her successful 3YO campaign. Rising star Marcus Heritage of Swettenham Stud received the Thoroughbred Breeders Australia Rising Star Award, while James O’Brien was honored with the Inglis Service to the Industry Award for his contributions. The awards also recognized Bella Orfana as Champion Victorian Broodmare posthumously, Lucky Vega as IRT Champion Victorian First Season Sire, and Janice McKenna as Leading Victorian Small Breeder, reflecting a broad celebration of talent across breeding, training, and racing sectors.
