The 2025 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm on Saturday marks the climax of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival and the final Group 1 race of the Australian season, featuring a competitive field of fillies and mares contesting a $700,000 prize over 1400 meters. Chris Waller’s Firestorm, a Kiwi-bred four-year-old and narrow favorite at $4, aims to build on strong recent performances with champion jockey James McDonald aboard. Close behind in betting is local star Floozie, trained by Tony Gollan, who is on a four-race winning streak and seeks to complete the Dane Ripper – Tiara double, a rare achievement last done in 2019.
Other notable contenders include Peter Snowden’s consistent Tashi at $8, Danny O’Brien’s returning Grinzinger Belle at $10, and Phillip Stokes’ Zaszou at $15, who recently won the Helen Coughlan Stakes. The race, set as Race 8 at 3:58 pm AEST, features a full field with 22 runners, including several emergencies, and promises an exciting finish to the winter carnival with top trainers and jockeys competing for the prestigious title.
