The 182nd Cattaraugus County Fair kicked off with youth competitions showcasing animals from across the county. Highlights included the 4-H Dog Show, 4-H Horse Jumping Show, Open Beef Show on Saturday, and a full slate of events on Sunday such as the 4-H and Open Exhibition Poultry Show, 4-H Horse Costume Class, Miniature and Driving Horse Shows, and both 4-H and Open Hog Shows. Attendees are encouraged to visit throughout the week to see animals and exhibits and engage with 4-H members about their projects.
Notable winners included Alexandra Herr as Champion Dog Showman with her dog “Trouble,” Sierra Wiesmore earning multiple top honors in the Horse Jumping Show, and Daniel Stang as Champion Poultry Showman. In the 4-H Hog Show, Lilly Gaskins was named Champion Swine Showman, while Ryder Smith took Grand Champion Market Hog. The fair continues to celebrate youth involvement in agriculture and animal husbandry, with opportunities to learn more about the 4-H program by contacting the local office.
