Holly Dunne, a 21-year-old apprentice jockey from Portlaoise, is gaining valuable experience at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival this week. Based with renowned trainer Henry de Bromhead in Waterford, Holly recently celebrated her first win aboard ‘Plan of Attack’ at Punchestown. Although her current jockey’s license does not permit her to race at Cheltenham, she will be actively involved by leading some of de Bromhead’s horses into the parade ring during the event.
Starting her equestrian journey at just five years old in Stradbally Hall and training under Etta Hayes, Holly is steadily building her career in horse racing. A twin and former student of Scoil Chríost Rí, she is set to enjoy an incredible experience at the four-day festival, which draws over 200,000 spectators, marking an important milestone in her apprenticeship.
