The first day of La Fiesta de los Vaqueros Tucson rodeo celebrated its 101-year tradition with competitors and families coming together in a festive western atmosphere. Among the participants was seven-year-old Eleanor Obiga, who competed in junior barrel racing alongside her horse, Pistol. Eleanor emphasized the importance of their bond and preparation, including warming up and familiarizing Pistol with the track, which contributed to their successful performance amid cheers from the crowd.

The event also drew local families and ranchers who expressed their appreciation for the rodeo‘s cultural significance. The Pereyda family enjoyed introducing their niece and nephew to this longstanding Tucson tradition, while ranchers Chris and Angela Cline highlighted the rodeo‘s deep roots in the cowboy lifestyle centered around horses and cattle.
