Nine-year-old Langlang from Huangshi, Hubei province, who has been traveling the world with her parents since infancy, gained widespread online praise for standing up to riding instructors in Egypt. During a riding lesson at a local equestrian club on March 4, Langlang noticed that her two beginner friends were assigned to ill-tempered horses, including one known for throwing riders and considered vicious.
As the only English speaker among the children and tasked by her father to look after her friends, Langlang bravely confronted the three local coaches about their choice of horses. Her fearless advocacy highlighted concerns over the safety and treatment of novice riders, drawing attention and admiration online.
