20-year-old American rider Sanger made her Burghley House debut this year, benefiting from training under Olympic gold medallist and reigning Burghley champion Ros Canter. Despite her horse not being a natural dressage competitor, Sanger scored a respectable 37.4 on day one of the prestigious 5* event, crediting Canter’s coaching and a strict plan for their strong performance. She expressed pride in competing at Burghley, describing it as a uniquely special and challenging event.
Balancing her equestrian ambitions with academics, Sanger is also a journalism student at the University of Richmond. She has extended her stay in the UK to continue training with Canter, planning to return to school briefly before resuming her riding career. While eventing remains her primary focus, she values her education and enjoys journalism as a complementary passion. The Burghley Horse Trials, held from 4-7 September 2025, is a major international event attracting top riders and large crowds.
