Xavier Legette Did Not Ride Horse to Panthers’ Playoff Loss Despite Viral Social Media Rumor

A viral social media post mistakenly claimed Carolina Panthers receiver Xavier Legette rode a horse to the team’s playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams, but ESPN reporter David Newton later clarified that Legette was not among the men on horseback seen near the stadium. Despite being an animal lover with pet horses, Legette arrived by other means and had a modest performance in the Panthers’ 34-31 loss, catching just one pass for eight yards.

Legette, the No. 32 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has had an underwhelming start to his career, partly due to the Panthers’ inconsistent passing game and quarterback struggles, including Bryce Young’s uneven play. The Panthers, who have not won a playoff game since 2016, face offseason decisions regarding their quarterback situation and Legette’s future, with the receiver potentially becoming a trade candidate as the team looks to improve its roster.
