Two Wyoming outdoorsmen, Zach Lentsch and Chris Allen, have formed a Political Action Committee (PAC) called Protect Wyoming to oppose the sale and privatization of public lands and wildlife. Motivated by concerns that current legislative efforts threaten residents’ livelihoods and the state’s natural heritage, the PAC aims to educate and mobilize voters to support candidates who uphold public land conservation, public wildlife, and science-based management. They emphasize that their initiative is grassroots, free from out-of-state or political money, and focused on state-level elections in 2026, rather than federal races.
Lentsch, a mountain guide, and Allen, a rancher and lifelong hunter, stress that Protect Wyoming is not an advocacy group but a voter education effort to ensure elected officials represent Wyoming values. They support responsible land transfers that improve access and management but reject wholesale privatization or monetization of wildlife. Their mission is rooted in preserving Wyoming’s wild places for current and future generations, relying on scientific wildlife management rather than political influence, and encouraging community involvement and funding through their website.
