Woodbine Entertainment has relaunched its philanthropic arm, Woodbine Cares, under the new banner “For the Love of the Horse Racing Community,” reaffirming its commitment to supporting both the horses and people central to Ontario’s horse racing industry. The initiative will allocate $250,000 annually across three key areas: equine welfare and aftercare, food programs and support for backstretch workers, and workforce development. Notably, contributions to aftercare partners have been quadrupled, new horse welfare grants introduced, and expanded food programs established to support the well-being of backstretch workers year-round.

Additionally, Woodbine Cares is investing in workforce development by funding placements for graduates and veterinary students and offering upskilling opportunities for employees through educational programs. CEO Michael Copeland emphasized that this renewed focus aims to build a vibrant, sustainable future for Ontario horse racing by prioritizing the welfare of equine athletes and the dedicated individuals behind the scenes. The relaunch includes a refreshed visual identity and tagline, highlighting Woodbine’s ongoing dedication to the horse racing community.
