A 38-year-old woman was airlifted from the Palehua Trail in Nanakuli after falling from a horse and sustaining injuries that left her unable to continue on her own. The Honolulu Fire Department responded promptly to a 911 call, arriving at the scene within 24 minutes, providing basic life support, and airlifting the injured rider along with two other riders to safety.
The HFD emphasized the importance of horseback riding safety, advising riders to wear helmets and sturdy boots, seek training from qualified instructors, stay alert to their surroundings and weather, and avoid riding alone to prevent similar incidents.
