A severe winter storm in Whitesboro caused multiple building collapses, primarily affecting metal structures such as barns, arenas, and warehouses. Emergency crews rescued seven horses with minor injuries and responded to incidents at a Ford dealership, gas station, and several carports. One warehouse at Texas Building Supply collapsed with an employee narrowly escaping, resulting in damaged inventory and a total loss of the building, though no injuries were reported.
The storm has also severely impacted travel, doubling ambulance transport times due to hazardous road conditions. Whitesboro Independent School District has warned that schools may remain closed through the week as more cold weather is expected. Grayson County’s Office of Emergency Management is urging residents to report winter storm-related damage online to aid in assessing the overall impact.
