The winter storm severely impacted Whitesboro, causing multiple building collapses, primarily metal structures such as barns, arenas, and warehouses, due to the heavy accumulation of ice and snow. Emergency crews rescued seven horses with minor injuries and responded to incidents at a Ford dealership, gas station, and several carports. One warehouse at Texas Building Supply collapsed with an employee narrowly escaping, and the building was declared a total loss with damaged inventory.
Road conditions remain hazardous, doubling ambulance transport times, and the Whitesboro Independent School District has warned that schools may stay closed through the week. With more cold weather expected, local officials urge residents to report storm-related damage online to assist in assessing the overall impact.
