Williamsburg County 4-H Students Advocate for Youth Development and Launch New Horse Club

Williamsburg County 4-H students recently participated in South Carolina 4-H Legislative Day in Columbia, where they engaged with peers statewide and state leaders to promote youth development programs. Guided by 4-H agent Stevie Griffen, the students learned about civic engagement, leadership, and the legislative process, while sharing how 4-H benefits their communities. The event featured an opening ceremony by the State 4-H Teen Council and fostered connections among members focused on leadership and service.

Locally, Williamsburg County 4-H leaders announced the launch of the county’s first 4-H Horse Club, offering hands-on agricultural and animal care experiences to youth, emphasizing teamwork and outdoor responsibility. Additionally, 4-H partnered with the Williamsburg County YMCA to provide swimming lessons and recreational programs, supporting confidence, healthy habits, and life skills. As the nation’s largest youth development organization, 4-H helps millions of young people build leadership, life skills, and community service values through diverse educational activities.
