The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forever Branded are hosting a series of wild horse and burro adoption events at the Matt Bischof Training Facility in Hamilton, Montana. The first event is scheduled for April 24-25, offering about 70 animals for adoption starting at $125. Adopters will also have the chance to participate in Forever Branded’s 2026 Missouri Branded Bonanza, a competition designed to help trainers develop horsemanship skills and prepare the animals for domestic life. A clinic by Mustang Matt will be available during the event to assist participants.
Additional adoption events are planned, including one on May 23 featuring a “Next Steps Clinic” with Mustang Matt. Patrick Merrill, BLM Montana/Dakotas Wild Horse & Burro Coordinator, emphasized that adopting these animals supports healthy rangelands and ensures a sustainable future for the horses and burros. Interested individuals can find adoption requirements and event details on the BLM website or by contacting Matt Bischof directly.
