Whispering Meadows Ranch, originally located in Flagler Beach, has relocated to a larger 9-acre property in Ormond Beach, enhancing its equine-assisted therapy program designed to build confidence and life skills in individuals with disabilities such as autism and cerebral palsy. Founded 18 years ago by Kristine Aguirre’s parents, the ranch evolved from volunteer work into a family mission, now offering a mentorship program called stable Moments that supports foster care and recently adopted children. The new facility includes a covered arena, a large pond, goats, and ample grazing space for horses, allowing year-round operation regardless of weather.
The therapy program has shown significant benefits, including improvements in communication and self-regulation among participants, some of whom were previously non-verbal. Aguirre emphasizes the physical and emotional growth fostered by the program, noting that activities like horseback riding help build strength and confidence. Looking ahead, the ranch aims to expand access through future partnerships, continuing its commitment to helping more individuals through equine-assisted therapy.
