Western Weekend Returns to Woodville with Parade, Rodeo, and Family Fun

Western Weekend, a key part of the Tyler County Dogwood Festival since 1968, celebrates the region’s western heritage with a variety of events including a large Western Day Parade, rodeo, and vendor fair in downtown Woodville. The parade, featuring over 1,500 horses and notable drill teams, will take place on Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m., showcasing trail riders, wagons, floats, and tractors. Vendors will offer food and crafts throughout the weekend.

The rodeo, sponsored by the Woodville Lions Club and produced by Bubba Miller’s Branded for Christ rodeo Company, is a CPRA-sanctioned event held on March 28 and 29, featuring competitions like bull riding, barrel racing, and calf roping. Family-friendly activities include calf and goat scrambles for children and the popular Mutton Bustin’ sheep-riding contest for kids 7 and under. Tickets are available for pre-sale and at the gate, promising a weekend full of excitement and community spirit. More details can be found on the Tyler County Dogwood Festival Facebook page or website.
