In June, eight West Feliciana 4-H members began their summer horse show season by competing in the District Horse Show at the Florida Parishes arena, where all qualified for the Louisiana 4-H State Horse Show by earning ribbons in various western and performance events. At the State Horse Show held in July at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, these competitors excelled, finishing first in at least six categories and securing a grand champion title, with many qualifying for the Southern Regional Horse Show in Georgia by placing in the top 10.
The West Feliciana riders qualified in a wide range of events, including stake races, pole bending, barrel racing, stock horse pleasure, working cow horse, ranch events, western pleasure, reining, showmanship, hunter classes, and more. The next competition is the Southern Regional Horse Show in Perry, Georgia, from July 30 to August 3, featuring 4-H participants from 13 states.
