The endurance horse riding season has faced numerous cancellations and postponements due to wet weather across the state. Despite these challenges, the Watagan Mountains Endurance Ride committee is moving forward with their event this weekend at Sawyer’s Gully, offering rides suitable for all levels—from a casual 20-kilometre ride on Saturday to more demanding 40-60km and 80km options.
Ride secretary Alison Hegarty noted that while participant numbers are expected to be lower than usual due to rescheduling and calendar conflicts, the event has attracted locals, first-time riders, and some from further away. The committee is grateful to have secured a new date, providing an opportunity for riders to enjoy the sport despite the disrupted season.
