The W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center at Cal Poly Pomona was honored with the Heritage Award by the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, recognizing its 100-year legacy of educational innovation, community engagement, and regional impact. Established in 1925 by W.K. Kellogg, the center is the nation’s oldest continuous Arabian horse breeding program and a key part of Cal Poly Pomona’s identity and the San Gabriel Valley’s cultural and economic fabric. The center supports academic programs in animal science and health, offers interactive student experiences through initiatives like Horses for Heroes and Foal Watch, and hosts popular Sunday Horse Shows that attract thousands annually.
Originally Kellogg’s private ranch, the center was donated to the State of California in 1932 with the stipulation that its breeding program and shows continue. Today, it serves as a hub for research, experiential learning, and community outreach, reflecting Cal Poly Pomona’s commitment to diversity and student success. The university is celebrating the center’s centennial throughout the 2025-26 academic year with special events and commemorative activities, highlighting its enduring influence on the region and the university’s agricultural heritage.
