Victorian Horseman Shane Taylor Celebrates First Harness Racing Win with Magic Law

Victorian harness racing driver Shane Taylor celebrated a milestone by securing his first-ever race-driving win at Maryborough with his five-year-old trotting mare Magic Law, marking his 99th attempt. Based near Ballarat, Taylor expressed deep satisfaction in achieving this long-awaited victory, especially since he bred, trained, and drove Magic Law himself. The win was shared with co-owner and friend Ted Carmody, and was warmly congratulated by fellow drivers, including Mick Bellman, who has also driven Magic Law to previous wins.

Taylor, who prefers training trotters despite their challenges, currently manages five horses at a Ballan training complex, focusing on patient development. Magic Law, with a solid record of 68 starts and over $39,000 in earnings, is set to race again at Stawell, with Bellman expected to drive. Taylor’s perseverance and dedication to the sport highlight the significance of his maiden victory and his ongoing passion for harness racing.
