Varanasi Hosts First Horse Racing Competition in Years, Sparking New Interest in Adventure Sports

Varanasi recently hosted its first horse racing competition in years, the Babu RN Singh Memorial Horse Racing Competition, organized by Vikas Inter College. Held at the mini stadium ground in Parmanandpur, the event attracted over 5,000 students and sports enthusiasts, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The competition featured three phases, with initial rounds of five-lap races narrowing the field to a final six-lap race that determined the top three winners.

In the final 4 km race, Hari Narayan’s Rajasthani horse ‘Shakti’ won first place with a time of 2 minutes 28 seconds, followed by Gaurav Yadav’s Marwari horse ‘Rocket’ and Saurabh’s Marwari horse ‘Sheru’ in second and third places respectively. The event was inaugurated by Asha Singh, president of the Uttar Pradesh Adventure Sports Club, and attended by notable sports officials, marking a significant step forward for adventure sports in Kashi.
