The United States Eventing Association (USEA) has opened applications for its 2026 Youth Mentorship Program, which offers young riders and collegiate athletes aged 16 to 25 a behind-the-scenes experience at major eventing championships across the U.S. The program, originally launched at the USEF Eventing Young Rider Championships, will be hosted at up to four events in 2026, including the USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships at stable View, South Carolina, with application deadlines starting April 21. Selected participants will shadow officials, learn about event management, and gain insight into officiating at a championship level, aiming to inspire future involvement and career opportunities in the sport.
Applicants must be current members of an Intercollegiate Eventing Program team or a Young Rider Area Program and cannot compete or volunteer at the event during their mentorship. The program is free, though travel and accommodation costs are the participant’s responsibility. After completing the program, participants will submit a reflection on their experience and may assist with promotional activities. The USEA Young Rider Program supports youth involvement in eventing through various initiatives, including mentorship, competitions, and grants, fostering long-term engagement in the sport.
