Two Firefighters Injured Battling Large House Fire in Meyers, California

Two firefighters were injured while responding to a large house fire in Meyers, California, early on February 27, 2026. The fire broke out in a multi-story residential building undergoing renovation on Ulmeca Street, producing heavy smoke and flames from the second floor. The blaze was significant enough to trigger the Alert California Wildfire camera at Heavenly Ski Area.

Emergency crews from Lake Valley Fire District, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, CAL FIRE, and local law enforcement responded to the scene. Although one resident was inside at the time, they escaped unharmed. The firefighters were hospitalized for evaluation, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
