At a recent event, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, presented Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with an Akhal-Teke horse named “Taus” on behalf of Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people. The gift symbolizes friendship and brotherhood between Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan, with Berdimuhamedov highlighting the cultural significance of the horse as a symbol of support and happiness among Turkmens. Additionally, a camel was gifted to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, further emphasizing Turkmenistan’s goodwill towards its neighboring countries.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed deep gratitude for the Akhal-Teke horse, praising it as a world-renowned national symbol of Turkmenistan and a representation of the close ties between the Turkmen and Azerbaijani peoples. He noted the shared cultural heritage, mentioning that both nations have their own distinguished horse breeds—the Akhal-Teke and the Karabakh horse—reflecting their brotherly relationship. Aliyev also commended the horse performance showcased at the event, reinforcing the spirit of friendship and mutual respect among the nations.
