Turkmenistan Celebrates Harvest Festival Highlighting Agricultural Achievements and Reforms

The holiday of harvest in Turkmenistan was celebrated with grand festivities along the Garagum River embankment in Ashgabat, highlighting the country’s agricultural achievements and the generosity of its land. High-ranking officials, agricultural workers, and foreign diplomats attended the event, which showcased the successful agrarian reforms initiated by former leader Hero-Arkadag and continued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. This year, Turkmenistan achieved a bountiful yield, producing over 1.4 million tons of wheat and significant silkworm cocoon output, reflecting the positive impact of state policies supporting farmers through technical aid, financial loans, and scientific advancements. The event also featured an exhibition of agricultural and processing industry achievements, cultural performances, and competitions, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to food security, modernization, and export growth.

The government’s focus on modernizing agriculture includes establishing research institutes, raising state purchasing prices for key crops, and constructing new production facilities such as mineral fertilizer plants to boost productivity and sustainability. Turkmenistan actively collaborates with international organizations like the FAO to implement climate-optimized farming methods and ensure food safety. The holiday celebrations also honored top agricultural workers with awards and gifts, including a prized Akhal-teke horse presented to the president. Overall, the event underscored the country’s ongoing reforms aimed at increasing agricultural efficiency, supporting rural communities, and fostering national pride in Turkmenistan’s agrarian sector.
